Notifications: sounds, quiet hours & missed chats

Hear about every chat that needs you — and nothing when you’re off. Notifications reach the web inbox, your browsers (even when the inbox is closed), the phone app and email, with quiet hours, do-not-disturb and a safety net for chats nobody answered.

Check that they reach you

Settings → Notifications → Notification health shows this browser’s permission, browsers subscribed to push, phones with the app, your email and whether quiet hours or Away hold things back. Send a test pushes to every browser and phone right now and emails you; Play my sound checks your speakers. In the app: Settings → Notification health.

Choose what you hear

  • While the inbox is open: a sound (Chime, Pop, Ding, Bell or Soft knock, with volume) and desktop pop-ups when the tab is in the background.
  • Push (browsers and phones): new conversations, messages in yours or unassigned ones, mentions, AI approvals and missed chats. New conversations come with Assign to me, approvals with Review, right on the notification.
  • Email: only when you are away from the inbox and a message is still unanswered.

Quiet hours & do not disturb

  • Quiet hours (in your time zone, across midnight too): no push, sound or email. Let urgent things through keeps mentions, approvals and missed chats coming. Morning digest emails you once when quiet hours end, with the conversations still waiting.
  • Do not disturb while Away: set yourself to Away and only urgent things notify you.
  • At your desk: while you work in a workspace’s web inbox, your phone stays quiet for that workspace — you hear it at your computer. Switch on Also push to my phone while I’m in the web inbox if you want both.

If nobody answers

In Settings → Assignment → If nobody answers, choose to escalate conversations still waiting after 3 to 60 minutes. The assignee, the owner and admins (or everyone) get an inbox notification, a push and an email — optionally also in Slack, Discord or Telegram. Once per wait: a teammate’s reply resets it. Conversations the AI assistant is handling are left to it, and only waits that start after you switch it on count.

Visitors

After a visitor sends their first message, the messenger asks once: “Get a notification when we reply?”. If they turn it on, your replies show as browser notifications (with your logo) even in another tab — plus the usual sound. Switch the offer off in Settings → Messenger.
