Cookie Policy

Effective date: October 4, 2026

In short: we use two essential cookies to keep you signed in and protect forms. The chat messenger on our customers' websites sets no cookies. Analytics cookies are set only if you accept them.

What cookies and local storage are

Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser and that are sent back to it with each request. Local storage is a similar browser feature that keeps small pieces of data on your device without sending them to the server automatically. This policy covers both, for https://talkingdot.com, the TalkingDot dashboard and the TalkingDot messenger.

The messenger sets no cookies

The TalkingDot messenger that businesses add to their websites does not use cookies. Instead, it keeps one item in that website's local storage, named after the workspace. Because local storage belongs to a single website, the token cannot be used to follow a visitor from one website to another. It is not used for advertising, and the messenger loads no third-party trackers.

Each business that uses TalkingDot decides whether its own cookie banner or privacy notice needs to mention the messenger's local storage, depending on the law that applies to it.

If we have enabled Google Analytics, our public website shows a cookie banner. Analytics loads only after you choose to accept; if you decline or ignore the banner, no analytics cookies are set. Analytics never runs in the dashboard or in the messenger.

Your choice is stored in cn-consent. To change it, clear this site's data in your browser, which also removes any _ga cookies. The banner will appear again on your next visit.

How to clear or block cookies

You can delete cookies and local storage at any time in your browser's settings, usually under Privacy or Site data, and you can block cookies for any website. If you block or delete our essential cookies, you will be signed out of the dashboard and some forms will not work. Clearing a website's local storage starts a fresh messenger session there; earlier conversations may no longer appear in the messenger, although the business still has them.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page and its effective date before we start using any new cookie or similar technology. If you have questions, email privacy@talkingdot.com.
