Acceptable Use Policy

Effective date: October 4, 2026

This Acceptable Use Policy is part of our Terms of Service. It applies to everyone who uses TalkingDot, including account holders, teammates and anyone using the API. It protects the people who chat through TalkingDot, our customers and the service itself, which we keep free for everyone.

Prohibited uses

You must not use TalkingDot, including the messenger, inbox, email features, help center, API or webhooks, to:

  • Send spam or unsolicited bulk messages, including proactive messages, emails or chatbot flows that people did not ask for or that break anti-spam laws.
  • Phish or defraud, for example by collecting passwords, payment details or one-time codes under false pretences, or by running scams.
  • Impersonate another person, business or brand, or mislead people about who they are talking to.
  • Spread malware or other harmful code, or links to it, through messages, attachments or help-center articles.
  • Publish or share illegal content, including child sexual abuse material, content that infringes intellectual property or privacy rights, and content that promotes violence or terrorism.
  • Harass, threaten or abuse anyone, or send hateful or discriminatory messages.
  • Collect sensitive data without a lawful basis, such as health information, government ID numbers, full payment card numbers or passwords.
  • Install the messenger on websites you do not own or control, or use it without the website owner's permission.
  • Abuse the API or the service, for example by scraping, exceeding or working around rate limits and fair-use limits, creating multiple accounts to avoid limits or bans, or sending automated traffic that slows the service down for others.
  • Attack the service, including probing or scanning for vulnerabilities without permission, trying to access other people's accounts or data, or interfering with how the service runs.
  • Use it for unrelated purposes, such as general file hosting through attachments or the help center.
  • Break the law, or help anyone else do any of the above.

Security research

We welcome good-faith reports of security issues. If you think you have found a vulnerability, follow the process on our Security page and do not access other people's data or disrupt the service.

Enforcement

We may investigate suspected violations. Depending on how serious they are, we may warn you, remove content, disable features such as a messenger, webhooks or API keys, suspend or close a workspace or account, and report illegal activity to the authorities. We will usually contact you first, but we may act immediately when there is a risk of harm to people, to the service or to other customers. Repeated or serious violations can lead to a permanent ban.

How to report abuse

If you see TalkingDot being used for spam, phishing, scams or other abuse, tell us using our abuse report form or by email at abuse@talkingdot.com. Please include the address of the website where you saw the messenger, what happened and, if possible, screenshots or copies of the messages. We review every report.
