The mobile app for Android & iPhone

The TalkingDot app puts your shared inbox on your phone. Answer customers from anywhere, see who they are, and get a notification the moment someone needs you.

What you can do in the app

  • Inbox: your conversations, Unassigned, All, Mentions, teams, teammates and tags; open, snoozed and closed; search by name, email, message text or #number. Pull down to refresh; new messages appear live.
  • Reply and add notes with photos and files, saved replies (type /), @mentions in notes and live translation when it is on for your workspace. Long-press Send to send and close or send and snooze.
  • Act on conversations: assign to yourself or a teammate, move to a team, tags, priority, snooze, close and reopen, email the transcript. Long-press a conversation in the list for quick actions.
  • See who you are talking to: the contact’s details, tags, attributes, notes, recent pages and other conversations — and, if you connected WHMCS or WordPress, the same customer card as on the web.
  • Live visitors: who is on your website right now, and start a conversation with them.
  • Activity: mentions and conversations assigned to you.
  • Several workspaces: switch between them from the inbox title; each shows its unread count.

Get the app

Search for TalkingDot in Google Play or the App Store. It runs on Android 7 and newer and iOS 15 and newer.

  1. Open the app and sign in with the same email and password you use on the web. If you use two-factor authentication, enter the code from your authenticator app (or a recovery code).
  2. Using your provider’s own address (for example chat.yourprovider.com)? Tap Change under the sign-in form, choose Another address and enter it.
  3. Allow notifications when the app asks.

Notifications

Your phone is notified about new conversations for you or nobody, conversations assigned to you and @mentions — like the browser notifications on the web. Tap one to open the conversation. Choose which ones you get, and turn the sound off, in the app under Settings → Notifications; Send a test notification checks they reach you. While the app is open you see a banner at the top instead.

Set yourself to Away (tap your picture in the inbox) when you are off: automatic assignment skips you.

Security

  • The app keeps its sign-in in your phone’s secure storage (Keychain on iPhone, Keystore on Android), never your password.
  • App lock: turn on Face ID, Touch ID, fingerprint or your phone’s screen lock in Settings → App lock.
  • Lost a phone? Remove it on the web under Account → The mobile app, or in the app under Settings → Signed-in phones. Changing your password or signing out other devices also signs out every phone.
  • Phones that are not used for 90 days are signed out automatically.
  • You can delete your account from the app (Settings → Delete my account), with the same rules as on the web.

What the app stores and sends is described in our privacy policy.
